The young French conductor Marie Jacquot celebrated a great success in Strasbourg last weekend by conducting the world premiere of Thierry Pécou's opera Until the Lions.
In the presence of the composer, an around ninety-minute thriller set in the Far East developed around the main characters Satyavati and Bhishma, which brought great cheers from the audience in the final applause.
For Marie Jacquot, this was her first collaboration with the French composer. After conducting "The Golden Dragon" in the summer, this production once again shows that the future chief conductor of the Royal Danish Opera is equally at home with modern music in her broad repertoire.
