Ivor Bolton with „Der wunderbare Mandarin/ Herzog Blaubarts Burg“ by Béla Bartók at Theater Basel

Ivor Bolton and "his" Basel Symphony Orchestra are now at Theater Basel for the first time. With Béla Bartók's "Der wunderbare Mandarin/ Herzog Blaubarts Burg " he is again looking forward to a collaboration with Christof Loy, who stages the two pieces "about the abysses of desire" and complements them with a movement from the "Music for Stringed Instruments, Percussion and Celesta" as a dance narrative. In addition to the Theater Basel choir, the cast includes Gorka Culebras, Carla Pérez Mora, Joni Österlund, Nicky van Cleef, Jarosław Kruczek, Nicolas Franciscus, Mário Branco, Christof Fischesser and Evelyn Herlitzius. The premiere will take place on Dec. 3, 2022, with additional dates on Dec. 6, 9, 12, 18, 23, 28, 30, 2022, and Jan. 10 and 14, 2023.
