Under the baton of their principal conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and soprano Christiane Karg invite you to a concert evening of late romantic splendour. The first season of the Living Room Concerts began in November with Orozco-Estrada, and the last Living Room Concert for the time being will also bring the programme full circle. With works by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss, the orchestra, founded in 1900, returns to the sound culture that oscillates between late Romanticism and modernism, for which it is predestined like hardly any other orchestra.
Christiane Karg, who most recently thrilled audiences at Orozco-Estrada's acclaimed inaugural concert in the autumn, will perform Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs. The touching legacy of the great late Romantic is combined with the elegiac Adagietto from Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony.
