Francois Leleux’s first recording as a conductor – featuring Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1, his Symphony No 1 and Gounod’s Petite Symphonie with Scottish Chamber Orchestra – has received brilliant reviews.
Grammophon Magazine writes: “The Symphony in C sounds marvellously fresh and new-minted here. Leleux carefully calibrates the balance between energy and grace, so that everything seems perfectly proportioned and nothing is rushed or heavy-footed.”
According to Classica, “Leleux knows how to be lively, even brilliant, sculpting very clear contours, with fairly lively but not hasty tempos.”
MDR Kultur comments: “François Leleux is a perfectionist – a conductor who knows how to finely balance the interplay between solos and the group.”
