Our Artists During Lockdown
The Covid-19 pandemic has presented the classical music industry with its biggest crisis in modern times. During this sudden and unparalleled situation, our artists demonstrated an unprecedented level of initiative and ingenuity in order to keep performing.
Live performance-highlights:
- Ivor Bolton, Francesco Piemontesi, Emmanuel Pahud and Sir András Schiff performed in the 100th anniversary edition of the Salzburg Festival
- Andrés Orozco-Estrada debuted with the Munich Philharmonic
- Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Julian Rachlin performed at the Grafenegg Festival; both artists were also among the first to perform at the Wiener Musikverein following the lockdown
- Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian were among the first artists to re-appear at Konzerthaus Dortmund following the lockdown
- Xavier de Maistre appeared as Artist in Residence in the reduced version of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival
- Antoine Tamestit and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian appeared in the “En Suite” Festival of Festspielhaus Baden-Baden
- Francesco Piemontesi and Antoine Tamestit performed Hindemith’s Kammermusiken with the Dresden Philharmonic
- François Leleux and Antoine Tamestit performed at the Audi Sommerkonzerte 2020
- François Leleux and Giedrė Šlekytė conducted the Mozarteumorchester
- Gautier Capuçon performed 21 recitals in cities and towns throughout France
Online-only performances:
- Gautier Capuçon appeared in 56 streams from his apartment in Paris
- Dennis Russell Davies performed nine “Home Delivery” concerts at the Ars Electronica Center Linz
- Marie Jacquot gave her debut with Munich Radio Orchestra as part of a TV production
- Daniel Müller-Schott performed twice at the #netzspielsommer of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
- Ivor Bolton, Gautier Capuçon, François Leleux, Francesco Piemontesi, Julian Rachlin and Antoine Tamestit participated in Dresdener Musikfestspiele’s 24-hour concert “Music never Sleeps“
- Kirill Gerstein and Daniel Müller-Schott performed in Daniel Hope’s concert series “Hope@Home”
- Alexander Ullman presented numerous streams on various platforms
- Francesco Piemontesi performed at the Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin
- Andrés Orozco-Estrada gave several concerts with the hr-Sinfonieorchester in the "Stage@Seven" series
- Kirill Gerstein performed with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester
- Robert Trevino realized all scheduled concerts with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra as web streams, and presented eight concerts as part of Basque National Orchestra’s “Series of Eight”
